About Us
For many years, our team was involved in many voluntary and charity projects in Sri Lanka . We used to undertake lot of work that was entrusted to us by friends, relatives and many Sri Lankans living around the world. Time passed. We were deeply involved in projects and doing work for our friends. One thing we realized was that we were spending from our pockets as well and still did not ask for extra money for it. We were helping, doing charity and voluntary work, not a business. Getting to know of this, many of our friends suggested us to start a service. This influenced us very much to start this web-based serviceā¦
Here is one incident. 1997 was a troubled period in Sri Lanka . A School in the North Central Province was destroyed. A friend living in Middle East wanted this school rebuilt. He asked us for help. He entrusted the project to us by transferring the funds and expecting us to complete the job. We obliged. We had to visit the site over five to six times. Cost of transport and traveling was somewhat the equivalent of the cost of construction. We spend this from our own pockets.
Later on my friend heard about it and on realizing this, he persuaded us to start a business to provide services to Sri Lankan expatriates, so that he and other Sri Lankans would not be embarrassed, to request a job and we will not be out of our pocket.
This is another similar incident. A friend living in England requested us to check on a construction done in Batticoloa area on a Temple . The money for this was transferred to us through a Bank. We had to visit this Temple twice and the transport on both trips came to over Rs.20,000/- and we had to spend two nights in Batticoloa on both these occasions. Although we looked at it as a service that we were doing, we have spent over another Rs.20000/- for transport and traveling, once again we did not realize that the money was spent through our pocket. Finally, this friend too insisted that we should start our service-oriented web site and charge a fee for the services we would be doing.
A friend living in California USA wanted us to help a relative who lives in Sri Lanka with a court case. We did our best and even won the case for her. Although we looked at it as a favour as above, our friend sent us a fee which he has decided and insisted that we should accept the fee and this Web Site be started immediately so that we could be of more service to many of his friends who are living in USA.
